Spring 2021 Membership Letter

The 6th and 7th Lake Improvement Association, Inc., PO Box 164, Inlet, NY 13360

Dear Neighbors:

As the summer season approaches, we can be encouraged by the progress that has been made over the past year, but we still need to be mindful of the impacts of the pandemic and the changes it has brought upon us including what it means to our ADK lifestyles.  In speaking with many of the local merchants and officials, the summer of 2020 saw a tremendous increase in the number of visitors to our area.  From many accounts, we may see a similar influx into the area again this summer!!   We will still need to exercise caution and follow the federal, state and local guidelines and advice, but hopefully we will able to return to some semblance of “normal”.

Unfortunately, we learned about the passing of Bill Landmesser this past December.  Bill was a longtime Board Member and Volunteer to the Association and was the force behind our water quality programs.  Please take a moment to remember the many contributions that Bill has made to our group.

The Board has agreed to support the “Maintain the Chain” event the weekend of July 10th and 11th.    “Maintain the Chain” is Inspired by the Boon Family of Fourth Lake and is sponsored by the Fulton Chain of Lakes Association and supported by the Towns of Webb & Inlet, the Adirondack Watershed Institute and our own Sixth and Seventh Lake Improvement Association.  We will be organizing an event to clean up Sandy Beach, but we also encourage you to organize your own team and complete a project more personal to you.  Please visit www.maintainthechain.net for more information and to register your individual project.

The Annual Meeting is the opportunity we have each year to get some feedback from the membership, report to you some of the important information and to vote on essential Association business.  The Board has agreed to once again, modify the meeting format.  We will conduct the annual meeting a little earlier and provide coffee and breakfast snacks.  We will be seeking volunteers to organize the event in future years at the meeting.  The fireworks will occur that evening. We intend to conduct the meeting following current CDC guidelines. Please bring your own chairs and appropriate personal protective equipment.

The Annual Association Meeting will be on Saturday, August 7th at Fern Park at 10:00 AM
